Support Letter: Serving in Estonia!
Dear friends and family,
As many of you know, I am currently a student at Moody
Bible Institute in the Intercultural studies program. God has been using my
time at Moody to grow my intimacy and dependence on Him continually. He has
taught me how to trust Him and His goodness even in the unknown and sometimes scary things. I have learned about communicating across cultural boundaries and
meeting people where they are at with the gospel. For the summer, God has opened
the door for me to serve as an intern with Josiah Venture in Estonia. Since
committing to this internship, God has given numerous confirmations that this
is where He is leading me and has given me peace and excitement as I anticipate
the summer.
Josiah Venture is a Christian ministry that works with youth in Central and Eastern Europe. The organization is passionate about reaching and discipling young people for Christ in connection with the local church. This summer I will be serving with Josiah Venture in Estonia from the end of May until the beginning of August. Estonia is deeply in need of Jesus with 76% of the population having no religious affiliation. In 1991, Estonia gained its independence and was freed from communism leaving many people searching for freedom and hope. Josiah Venture seeks to meet these spiritually hungry people through evangelistic camps for high-school students. As a part of my internship, I will be helping lead both English and Sports camps which provide avenues for my team to build relationships with the youth and share Christ with them. My responsibilities may include organizing the English camps, sharing my testimony, teaching Bible lessons, and helping lead small groups.
I am excited to serve in a context unfamiliar to me
since most of my mission experience has been in Africa. God has been
increasingly growing my heart for the people of Europe and the youth of Estonia
over the past few months. I am expectant to see how He will use my team and me
to further the work He is already doing there. I am also excited about the
opportunity to serve youth within the context of camp ministry because camps
were a formative part of my faith growing up as they provided me with a safe
place to meet God at a time when I was seeking community and discovering my
identity.
Would you please join me in praying for this internship?
Prayer is the most important thing that I need from as many people as possible.
God is the one at work in Europe and we need Him to come and work through our
ministry and our efforts. God alone softens hearts and brings growth. Please
let me know if you are interested in being a part of my prayer team by emailing
me (faithlasky@gmail.com). I would
love to keep you updated and share arising prayer needs.
Another way that you can partner with me in sharing the gospel with the people of Estonia is through financial support. The internship lasts ten weeks and costs $5,400 which covers my airfare, travel in the country, food, and lodging. This amount needs to be raised by May 1st. Any donations made towards my internship are tax-deductible; however, they are non-refundable. If for any reason the internship has to be canceled, the donations will be held for me to serve with them the next summer or if I am still unable to use them they will be donated to the ministry of Josiah Venture. To donate towards my trip, you can give online (https://www.josiahventure.com/give-form/?designation=66f32eb8-d045-42cb-a1e3-96ff9d74f07a&user=54002) or if you prefer to donate through check please email me and I will send you the information that you need.
Thank you for taking the time to read about what God is doing in my life and for considering supporting me as I serve God in Estonia!
Prayer Requests:
- Team Unity
- Financial provision
- Personal spiritual growth
- Softened hearts for those we will meet
- Opportunities to connect and share the gospel
