Week 1 Story
My
favorite ministry moment from the first week was when some of my team members and I
had the opportunity to go into the women’s section of the prison. Not only was
it beautiful to see the way these women worship, I also had the privilege to
speak to one of them and encourage her. She was sitting behind the tent where
the service was held and she had caught my eye from the start. So after praying
for God to speak through me, I walked over. Thankfully, there was a woman
sitting nearby who could translate for me and I got to pray with the lady and
then I went back to the tent for worship. Within a few minutes the woman came
over and began worshiping with me. Then it was time for all of them to go back
into the prison, so I gave her a hug goodbye. After I finished hugging her,
there were more women waiting for me to give them a hug. It ended up that
almost all the women formed a line and hugged me as they went in and I could
not have been happier. What more simple way of showing God’s love is there than
a hug? This was just one of those moments where actions speak louder than words
and can communicate God’s love across any language barrier.
