Peace
Peace.
Such a small word to represent such a powerful emotion.
At the moment, this feeling of peace seems so unattainable.
How can I be at peace when I am stepping into an experience full of unknown
turns every step of the way? How can I feel peace when I feel so unprepared?
The answer to that is I cannot, at least not on my own.
It is human nature to shy away from change and to stick to
what we know. Staying inside our comfort zones is what humans do best. When we
are scared of something, typically the natural, logical response is to turn the
other way, to avoid anything that may be causing us stress or fear. But, with
God, we can face the scary and the stressful and not only overcome it but also
have peace during the chaos.
I cannot tell you how many times I have stopped throughout
the last few weeks to ask God for peace. To ask God to help me trust his
sovereignty and his plan. Because on my own I cannot have peace. On my own I
would not even be going on this trip.
That is the beauty of it all. I am not on my own. I have the
almighty, all-knowing, sovereign, creator of the universe with me. He does not
send us out on our own saying he will give us peace but instead walks alongside
us each step of the way. That is why despite the intimidating task of preparing
for this trip, I can have peace. Because as I prepare to travel the world, I
have a God who has overcome the world on my side.
